One method of acquiring revenue for the establishment of the State Bank and its Branches was for the State to issue certificates of stock. This series consists of a register of certificates of $1,000 stock at 5% that were issued by the State of Alabama for the establishment of the Branch Banks at Mobile and Huntsville. Included are a description of the method and purpose of the sale, and the signatures of the State Treasurer, the president of the Bank of the State of Alabama, the Governor, and the Comptroller of Public Accounts (Auditor). Also included are the date, the stock number, the name of the president of the Branch Bank at Mobile and the Branch Bank at Huntsville who also served as payee, and the amount of the stock, which was $1,000. The amount is totaled at the bottom of each page.
